5 Things to Do and See on the Ultimate Staycation in Los Angeles County

Who says you need to leave the city in order to get away from it all? For those of us who live in LA, we tend to get caught up in the traffic or intense work schedules, but end up missing out what this area has to offer. This is where planning the ultimate staycation in Los Angeles can help.

As residents, we can take advantage of the very best of LA—places in and around the city where we can explore new things, live it up or relax and unwind. And, of course, ENTERTRAVEL knows all the best destinations to visit where guests are treated like celebrities and VIPs. Here are a few of our favorites:

Relax at the beach

Ask any Angelino which beach is the best and you’ll hear a variety of different answers. One thing we can all agree on, however, is that the Malibu beaches are unbeatable when it comes to scenery and relaxation. This particular stretch of sand and sea is flanked with must-try restaurants and lots to do.

For delectable cuisine, try Soho House Malibu Beach Club, Nobu, and Ollo. If you need a pick-me-up after all those waves and sunrays, grab a quick, refreshing smoothie at Sun Life Organics (this hidden gem is raved about by locals). You can also sing along with the music at Café Habana’s Wednesday night karaoke sessions.

Plus, if you don’t want to fight with the Santa Monica traffic on your way back into LA, stay at the Malibu Beach Inn. Guests can soak in the ocean views from their room, take advantage of the close access to the beach and Malibu Pier, and unwind in the excellent accommodations.

Party on the Sunset Strip

The comedy clubs, music venues, bars, lounges, and restaurants on the Sunset Strip never disappoint. This area of LA is bursting with exciting energy and incredible experiences waiting to be had. If you’re looking for the best places to see and be seen on the Strip, we’ve got you covered. First, grab a few drinks on the terrace at the Art Deco-styled Tower Bar to start the night off right. From there, we recommend staying at the Chateau Marmont. This hotel has all the irresistible qualities—exclusivity, privacy, and mystique—that will make for an epic staycation you’ll remember for years to come.

Lounge in the lap of luxury

If you really do want to escape but don’t want to spend the hours on a plane, book a suite at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Tucked away from the busy streets of Sunset Boulevard and Rodeo Drive, the “Pink Palace” is an oasis for VIPs. Whether you’re in the mood for afternoon tea, pool-side yoga, the ultimate Swiss ice crystal facial or a quiet evening at the Polo Lounge, this hotel has it all.

Play the tourist role

Private tours are a great way to take advantage of all the hotspots in LA without the craziness. Many private tour companies in our area will even tailor a sightseeing schedule to your interests. With your own personal tour guide, you can also expect to uncover secret spots around town that even native Angelinos don’t know about. There are several tour companies throughout the city that offer discreet luxury vehicle tours that will have you exploring the place we call home in a whole new way.

Visit Catalina Island

When you step off the boat and onto the shores of Catalina Island, you’ll feel as if you’ve left LA behind. The island has a funky, relaxed, and easy-going vibe with tons to explore. Zip lining, golfing, paddle boarding, scuba diving, snorkeling, shopping, and hiking—Catalina has more than enough to keep you busy. Or, if you’re looking for some pampering, rest and relaxation, schedule a date on the shores of one of the last private beaches in California at the Descano Beach Club. Try the Massages by the Sea for a special treat. Plus, don’t forget to grab a drink and hit up the dance floor at Luau Larry’s before you leave!
