Berlin

While It’s no secret Berlin is the epicenter of Germany’s art and nightlife scene, look a little closer and you'll find it’s where German history, politics, and culture hits its high notes, too.

Once divided in two by the Berlin Wall, this capital city is an important player in human history and has grown into one of Europe’s largest start-up capitals to date. From its collection of gripping Jewish Memorials to the Berlin Wall’s saturated East Side Gallery, Berlin is a complex city best discovered in layers – ideally with a Hefeweizen in-hand.

HIGHLIGHTS

THE BERLIN WALL

Built around East Germany after the Second World War, the Berlin Wall stood for nearly 28-years before its demolition in 1989. Though not much of it survived, small sections have been preserved at Checkpoint Charlie and the Memorial while the East Side Gallery hosts famous murals including “The Kiss.”

REICHSTAG BUILDING & KAFER

“Reichstag” literally means Germany’s governing bodies, so appropriately, the 19th-century six-story parliament building is rich with political and historical significance. The building is easily one of Berlin’s greatest attractions, particularly its glass dome roof offering 360-degree views of the city and a fine-dining restaurant named Käfer – all the makings for an unforgettable meal in Berlin.

BIKINI BERLIN MALL

Germany’s first Concept Mall delivers an elevated consumer experience with over 55 boutiques, flagship stores, restaurants, working spaces, entertainment hubs, and pop-up shops intended to complement one another. Bikini Berlin also features an idyllic landscaped rooftop terrace overlooking all of West Berlin, including a view of the monkey enclosure at the zoo next door.
